When I was in South Africa I drove the garden route from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth. That drive made me realize what a miracle it was that I took that trip. My doctors were worried about the 25 hour plane ride and blood clots. It was a trip of a lifetime and I saw the most beautiful mountains, the big five animals up close and personal and gorgeous beaches!
I recently heard, "bless the broken road." When I look back on my life, at the times when the road was broken, I was stopped, detoured, held up, or turned around but it was a blessing.
Sometimes the broken roads bring things we don't think we can do but God will give us what we need. His grace is there on demand and He will give us a fresh anointing. The waters may rise but they will not sweep us over! Isaiah 43: 2, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." With God's daily grace we will have more strength today than yesterday and less than tomorrow.
When we look back we will see that every broken road led us to Jesus and made us stronger. If the road and ride was smooth I would still be flying along, being the pilot, not growing and missing out on many blessings. I don't believe that garden route would have been so beautiful if I had not spent the year prior in the valley. Sometimes disappointments lead us home. When I look back on the hard times, I know it took me to another level in my relationship with God and that destination was worth the trip! Bless the broken road!
Best trip ever!!!!!
