"What if they're not stars but holes poked into the top of a container so we can breathe." I love this! I believe in pausing and taking breaths to make me feel better emotionally. Controlled breaths slow the heart rate, improves the flow of oxygen into the bloodstream which make the muscles relax, calm your nerves, release tension, relieve stress and anxiety symptoms.
Sometimes before I pray, if I have been stressed, I breathe during my prayer. I breathe out the clutter and breathe in the Holy Spirit. When our mind is full of the what ifs and we are panicked we need to pause. Those pauses to breathe remind us that God is with us. Psalm 46: 1-3, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."
When fear invades our mind, remember God is with us. He is our refuge. He is our protector. He gives us our strength and peace during tough times. When we focus on Him and His Word, we can be at peace. Breathe Him in and breathe out fear. Breathe Him in and breathe out worry. Breathe Him in and breathe out clutter.
"Breathe in deeply to bring your mind home to your body."
