Like Water Off A Duck's Back

During the "blizzard" I stood in awe at the ducks playing in the pond. These are the ducks that play in the water in the spring but the water last night had to be frigid! I had to do some research about the ducks. Their feathering is as thick and downy as wool on a sheep so they are well insulated from the cold.

Their feathers are waterproof, so as the saying goes, water rolls right off their backs. They also have a layer of fat beneath the feathers to keep their body temperature warm. God designed their body's blood flow to regulate and maintain the body temperature. There is never a reduced blood flow to the feet so they do not risk frostbite. Matthew 6: 26, "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"

When I think about what I have on my plate, I can snowball things and worry about what I have no control over. I have to call out to God over and over. 1 Peter 5: 7, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." These ducks reminded me of Philippians 4:19, "And my God shall supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Matthew 6:31, "So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’" Let's not worry, we have everything we need! Let's let those concerns roll off like water off a duck's back!
