The Weary World Rejoices

I think many of us have felt a spiritual fatigue or weariness in the last while. The weariness is a lack of strength to push forward. When we get like that we feel drained and defeated. We all go through these times. For me the state of our world made me weary.

I think back to listening to my favorite Christmas hymn, O Holy Night. "A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.” The Prophet Isaiah promised the birth of a Savior which brought hope in a dark world filled with sorrow, pain and hate. We can stay in this dark place or we can let the hope of Jesus transform our weary world. Isaiah 9: 6, "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Weariness and sadness can coexist with joy. We don't have to suppress one emotion to have the other. Joy is the all knowing that God is in control! How does a weary world rejoice? We acknowledge our weariness, we find joy in Him and we allow ourselves to be in awe of Him. We praise and glorify Him! Isaiah 40: 31, "...but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." This is a supernatural strength that only comes from God! I choose to rejoice today!
