Tired And Burdened

My friend was hurting and going through tough times - one of those times when you can’t get over one thing till you are punched in the gut with the next. I hurt for her. Many times I do not have the right words or know what to say but I do believe scripture helps. It may not change our circumstances but it can change our response.

I thought of David, in Psalms, he praised the Lord even though he was emotionally in a dark place. He knew by praising God and calling out to Him it could give him hope. He was despondent, yet he sought God. The Bible tells us that His grace is sufficient for us. His power is made perfect in our weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

First I have to give this situation over to God, knowing I am not in control. Once I do that He gives me the strength to endure. Matthew 11: 28-30, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” This is Jesus’ promise to us! We will never find the strength on our own. “Cast your burden on the Lord and He will sustain you.” Psalm 55: 22 Whatever your burden, rest in the fact that Jesus loves us and will give us rest. Jeremiah 31: 25, “For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.” Run, my friend, to your Father, Whose arms are open wide and rest in His Presence. You are His beloved child!
