You Can Do It!

A lady at church began calling my mom and visiting over the phone. She calls to visit, pray for and just be a friend. I am sharing her story, with permission, because she is serving in a season some people may not think they can serve. Because of a lung disease, she does not go to church but this does not stop her from doing ministry! She attends a Bible study, goes to a women's group and watches Thursday night and Sunday service. And, she can’t wait to get back to church in person!

It was extremely important for this lady to be a member of the body of Christ so she joined one day with the pastors, a few staff and a friend. She misses being active but is delighted that God gave her this opportunity to serve. “If you ask someone how they are doing then take the time to listen.” She witnesses to the drive-through person, store clerks, just by saying, “I hope you are having a good day and tell them that I will be praying for them.”

The devil will tell us over and over again that we are too old or too young to serve Him. He will make us doubt our ability, our capacity, and our skills. This is a lie that Satan uses to destroy our self-image by making us believe our life has no value. If we are breathing, we are capable of serving God. Psalm 92: 12-14, “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green.”

“When God gives you the opportunity to serve Him, He looks at your heart, not your date of birth.”
